Despite being away from the big screen for six years by the time 1950 came around, Luise was still actively seeking work projects but was now only choosing those which she found creatively interesting (and which fit into her schedule as a wife and mother). The 1950s was a fertile time for Luise on stage and on television. She was still a big enough star to green-light a project and her recovery from the depths of the late 1930s was cemented with her appearances on the arm of her charming husband. Notable highlights of the 1950s include Luise’s directorial stage debut, her return to the Academy Awards and an offer to work on one of the most iconic films of the 1960s.
