Gallery: Hostages (1943)

Luise’s first film in four years, after leaving MGM in 1939, she said that she did not wish to ‘star’, rather “I want to develop slowly and quietly, not spectacularly as I did before.” This was her only film for Paramount, and her last film until The Gambler (1997), 54 years later.
